JAAWB Leadership Award

The JAAWB Leadership Award acknowledges and celebrates persons who embody anti-workplace bullying advocacy in their organization or company. This award is our sincere recognition of achievements related to combating workplace bullying.

 

Awards will be made at the discretion of JAAWB who may choose to grant one award, no award, or multiple awards in any one year. In general, the JAAWB Leadership Award is not intended to be given posthumously.

 

Only individuals are eligible for this award. Award nominations will be reviewed and awarded based on relative comparisons between individuals on their contributions and impact.

Nomination Requirements

Anyone may submit a nomination for the JAAWB Leadership Award with the candidate's permission. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominations must clearly document why the candidate should be considered, above all others, for this distinguished award.  

 

Nominations must contain sufficient information to inform the selection process without additional research. Complete nominations must include the nominee's curriculum vitae or resume. While a CV or resume provides the committee with a more comprehensive overview of individuals accomplishments, it is not a substitute for any of the required information listed below. After reviewing the initial nomination submissions, the committee may request reference letters to assist in the evaluation of the nominees under consideration.

Nomination Criteria

Each nominee will be judged against the following required criteria:

  • Role in creating anti-workplace bullying policies and procedures where nominees have been or are employed

  • Role in implementing anti-workplace bullying initiatives or programs

  • Exhibit bystander intervention challenging bullying behavior

 

In addition, the committee will also look for evidence of tangible results in areas such as:

  • Raising awareness about challenges and opportunities related to anti-workplace bullying

  • Working to provide support for those who experience workplace bullying

  • Working with other persons or organizations to encourage efforts to make transparent and publish workplace reports data

  • Raising awareness of institutional and/or demographic workplace bullying trends and work toward creating institutional practices that keep up with these trends

  • Partnering with colleagues to create and advance programs that aim to eliminate workplace bullying

  • Advocating for using anti-workplace bullying resources and tools

Guidelines and Eligibility

  • Only individuals are eligible for this award.

  • No individual will be given an award more than once.

  • Candidates may not be currently working with JAAWB.

Recognition

Individual award recipients are recognized by receiving an award letter, a plaque, and $1,000 reward. Highlights of their accomplishments will be added to the award gallery on the JAAWB website.
